All Saints Outreach Commission

The All Saints Church Outreach Commission’s purpose is to plant the seeds of Christ’s love within our community and beyond.  The Outreach Commission plays an important role in spreading God’s word and ministering to the needs of God’s children by supporting primarily local Christian based charities and ministries as well as organizations that are involved with disaster relief. Additionally, the Outreach Commission aids a few select missionaries who have a strong personal connection to All Saints and are doing Christ’s work in distant lands, including Central and South America. This year All Saints Church will support nearly 50 ministries impacting the lives of thousands of men, women and children through gifts from the Outreach Commission.

The Outreach Commission is responsible for faithfully distributing nine percent (9%) of All Saint’s plate and pledge offerings to organizations who meet certain criteria established by the Vestry.  These groups make presentations to the members of the Outreach Commission addressing the group’s particular mission, financial status, Christian principles, and how the gift will be used to further Christ’s kingdom.

Each recipient is evaluated using criteria established by the Vestry:

• The extent to which the organization’s emphasis is based on Christian principles.

• The extent to which the gift will enable people to help themselves.

• The extent to which the gift will be given directly to those in need and not used for administrative expenses.

• The extent to which the ministry has a presence in the Central Florida community or a relationship with All Saints Church.

When a financial gift is authorized, an Outreach Commission member is assigned to serve as a liaison to that ministry for the purpose of monitoring the use of All Saints’ gift. This approach helps both the ministry and the Commission to determine if further support is warranted.

The Outreach Commission meets at 6:00 p.m. on the first Monday of each month to discuss approximately 50 ministries we support, as well as hear presentations from ministries. The Outreach Commission consists of long-standing All Saints members as well as new parishioners who are called to serve in this prayerful process to determine the best use of the Commission’s budget.  All parishioners are welcome and encouraged to become a member of the Outreach Commission.
