El Hogar Projects The mission of El Hogar Projects is to provide a loving home and education in a Christian environment for abandoned, orphaned and hopelessly poor boys, enabling them to fulfill their ultimate potential as productive human beings in Honduras. El Hogar is a mission of the Diocese of Honduras in Tegucigalpa, the capital of Honduras. Founded in 1979, it consists of three residential centers, an elementary school, a technical school and an agricultural school and farm. Upon graduation from the technical or agricultural school, these boys are prepared to make a difference in Honduras. The Reverend Richard Kunz has been a parish priest for 24 years, serving parishes in Pennsylvania and most recently at All Saints in Princeton, New Jersey. Rich has long been interested in mission work with children and has been involved in diocesan mission work in El Salvador. He began his tenure with El Hogar in July 2004. “I have found El Hogar Projects luminous with the presence of God's Kingdom. The staff and boys give us a glimmer of the realization of the beatitudes. In a gritty city struggling with poverty, El Hogar is an oasis of joy and peace.” Since El Hogar's inception in 1979, our church has generously given financial and spiritual support to the boys of the Home of Love and Hope. Twenty-two families have a relationship with an individual boy living either at the little boys home, the Technical School, or the Farm. Your generosity provides food, shelter, education and Christian love. We are a part of a network of supporters for 200 boys. The boys arrive at the home from the poorest of poor homes in Honduras and through the years become secure as young men who not only have a trade as a carpenter, electrician or welder, but are secure in knowing they have a heavenly Father.
